Rainey Scarborough is a dancer, choreographer, and movement director based in NYC. She holds a degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has studied at the American Dance Festival. With over 5 years of experience, she teaches a variety of dance, yoga and movement styles. She also leads workshops and performance projects through her collective, Conjure Arts Collective.

In the 2022/2023 season, Rainey served as an Artist-In-Residence with Dev Dance Theater in Ojai, CA, where she expanded her artistic horizons. As a teacher, I bring a warm, vibrant, and grounded energy into every class. I deeply believe that yoga is not just about the physical postures, but about creating a space where students can connect with themselves on a deeper level. I love building a sense of community in my classes and helping people feel calm, at ease, and fully supported. I’ve been told I have a relaxing and very welcoming demeanor, which I believe helps foster a safe and inclusive environment. My energy is centered around inclusivity, encouragement, and authenticity — I strive to make every student feel seen, supported, and empowered. I encourage students to let go of self-judgment, embrace their unique journey, and allow their practice to be a reflection of where they are in that moment.

I also bring an infectious passion for movement, music, and self-expression. The music I curate helps set the tone and create an atmosphere that encourages release, flow, and connection. I want my students to feel energized, inspired, and fully present in their practice, and I’m there to guide them through every step with compassion, and a deep respect for their individual experience.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a space where students can feel safe to explore their boundaries, release stress, and leave feeling rejuvenated — both physically and mentally.
